Has anyone managed to crack the issues with a 64 bit OS not playing quicktime VR objects or VR perspectives? I have been trying, to no avail, to figure out a workaround for Apples laziness and refusal to fix their quicktime program (to be compatible with x64 systems and play VR's) and was hoping maybe some others have got VR's to play on their 64 bit systems.
I have tried using the suggested DevalVR program and it doesn't work at all. Using the settings that were posted here I couldn't manage to open anything. I'm hoping there is something simple I am missing because this is very frustrating not being able to run these VR's because they are a wonderful tool to have.
I have sent a few emails to Apple/Quicktime and have searched their forums for some answers and many others appear to be having the same issue (Windows7 x64, WinVista x64). Apple still hasn't responded at this point, seems to me that they don't really give a crap.
These are settings I use, that work for me (see image too):
Save as: Quicktime (mov)
Compression: jpg
To open and watch the VR, I right click on the file and choose "open with" and then "Deval VR 3D plugin". I cannot open these files with Quicktime.
Off coarse I am still using Atl-Studio-2.0 and this might not work with other versions.
PS:
I red in my local resellers dispatch, that the new Cinema 4D, is exporting Quicktime movies, VR's and Panorama's for windows 64-bit systems. So I guess it won't take long for us Artlantis users to work with these files again and exchange them with clients for instance (also when they have 64-bit windows and don't want to install Deval).
1- Apple for PC's 64 bit systems do not intend to develop a version of QuickTime to read VR movies.
2- On a 64 bit PC with Artlantis 2 or 3 you can render corretly a VR movie but you'll not be able to read it on a PC 64 bit but the movie will be read under a 32 bit PC's.
