I am new to Artlantis. I am trying to get my landscape to look natural like the one I have attached but I can only go as far as making it look like this:
I was wondering if someone knows the process used to achieve the result I want. Do I use billboards (I know how to make my own), set up a foreground image, or use Photoshop after I render the house?

Im just guessing here but it looks to me like the plants are billboards. I think the rocks are objects due to the lighting on them. Im undecided on the grass, it could well be a series of objects too, if not its likely to be photoshop.
In terms of your I think some objects might help, especially in the foreground and the planting looks quite regular, maybe mix it up a bit and clump some plants together?

That's what I thought aswell. I made some billboard plants myself but they looked like they were either floating above the ground, or they were cut straight at the bottom. I also tried making billboard mulch but it looked too flat to be placed on the floor.
As for the rocks, are there any free models you have come across?
After many hours of tweaking, to achieve the attached image...
- I rendered the house by itself
- Added the lights and the driveway
- Created a grass billboard and laid it flat on the ground
- Added the background landscape billboard
- Imported the image to Photoshop and added the mulch and the plants
My main concern is not being able to achieve realistic shadows on my images without having to use Photoshop. After reading other forum posts I realised that billboards don't pick up the lighting effect and they don't seem to cast any shadows against other billboards... which is a shame.

You just need to register for free and you can download as much as you want. All objects in the attached image apart from the bottles are from that website.
