Sun Lensflare in Panorama view

Is it true that lensflare will not apply to VR panoramas? I can get the flare in the preview window and in a simple render of the same view, but the effect doesn't make it into the Panorama final render.

Lens flare takes effect in any point of view.
Nonetheless you need to get the direction of the light toward the camera to see the effect, as well as you need to have the distance of lighting going at least to the camera point of you if not you'll not see the effect.

I think he's simply saying the sun needs to be directly in your view, you need to see the physical sun to see the lens flares.
