I just downloaded the Google Sketchup Pro 8 release demo that came out recently and I was just wanting to find out if there will be an update for Artlantis 2 AND 3 to import the new .skp files? Neither version will open the Sketchup 8 files in all the tests I have tried.

Also will there be export plugins for Sketchup 8 for both Artlantis 2 and 3?

I am currently basing the sketchup upgrade purchase on whether Arlantis 2 will be updated because we still find v2 to be a better performer all around.

The plug-ins will be updated for sure, I'll let you know more about the timing as soon as possible.

Thanks Szabo,

I have been testing out the 3d exporting from sketchup 8 pro and actually using the .obj export seems to work very well, and the imports in to Artlantis are perfect so far. Knowing this I don't really even need the exporter, I guess. I think the upgrade is almost a must for me if nothing else but for the new solid modeling tools in sketchup 8, they make cutting, joining and subtracting geometry so much easier!

Here are the news: Abvent starts the development of export and import plug-ins as soon as Google releases the appropriate development kit. There is no release date for the moment, I hope to have it soon.
They plan to make plug-ins fort both versions, Artlantis 2 and 3. Until the plug is ready, you can also save SketchUp 7 format and open it directly in Artlantis. Have you tried it?

Oh, haha, Thanks Szabo! I didn't even realize it was that simple. Yeah, we will just do that for the time being instead of using the .obj export.

Thank you Szabo, for me the best method export/import from SketchUp is the especific Artlantis plugin, any other method is slower and worst.

I hopefully soon ready for SketchUp v.8

Regards.
