Is any possibility to make lights in SU5 and export it to atl?

I mean to make some proxy object, that will be replaced with light in Artlantis.

In RPS Ray Trace any component with _lamp, _lamp_bulb and _lamp_spot in name appears as light, and any material with _refXX and _glowXX appears as reflecting and self-illuminating. Is any possibility to make same things with Artlantis?

Dmitry,

The self-illuminating version is easy: paint everything that you want to emit light with the same material that is not anywhere else in the model. I use the names lamp1, lamp2 etc (if I need different light strengths). Then, in ATL, drop the Neon Light or Neon glass shader on the material in the shaders list, and adjust the material settings (strength etc). You must turn on Radiosity to see it. Very small objects like light bulbs are better simulated with the ATL lights.

Anssi, thanks, but I found myself tricks with material stuff. Using reference - is great! You can build own library of sketchup-corresponding materials, and load it then, without any troubles ^_^

My headache is light sources. I want to make lights in sketchup, but seems it is impossible. However, seems I know way to realize it - to make small external program or regexp script, that perform's search inside *.atl, and replaces some objects with special materials (for example with 'light_proxy' in their names) with light sources with same coordinates.

I hope, my programming skills will be enough o_O

Sketchup components are just surfaces when imported to ATL and no way to edit except with shader settings.

My best shot for lights is to create a separate light model in SU and make it an object in ATL with the light fcn selected,

SU face-me billboards will export to ATL( but no longer face the camera) and if selected as shader/object can be used as a place holder/locater for the ATL object and hidden when the object is set in place.

Hope this helps get things working for you a bit

See the attached ATL light object.

really you just need to remember the objects that have lights and then use the lights in artlantis or the neon shader.just this things make your project the way you want to.hope it works for you
