Hi guys,

This is my first post, I have been using the very basic elements of artlantis for a little while and I wanted to improve my knowledge and skill with the programme.

The attached image is my first attempt at creating my own shaders, (the wood, paving and metal trim) just looking to get some feeback on them really and any general tips people have to top quality renders :)

Also can anyone tell me whats up with the speckled white on the glass? Dont know where that comes from.

Thanks

Hi there,

I am not sure what has happened with the white speckles as I am fairly new to Artlantis also and tend to have only used it for University Project renders at this stage.

However, I really like the timber panneling shader! I have tried to make my own several times and not achieved the asethetic desired. If you don't mind would you post a postcard of that scene?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

No problems about the postcard, I'm at work at the moment so ill post it later this evening.

The wood was really simple actually (I probably didn't do it properly though!). All I did was to take an image from cgtextures.com and use it for the diffuse, bump and normal, then just messed around with the setting a bit.

Also if anyone knows a better way to create textured shaders I'd love to know.

Hi,
sure will a postcard be usefull but you have to make a zip-file and add the used textures, too. In the postcard there is only information about settings. Not the texture or shader itself.
Cheers
Patrick

Ah, thank you Patrick, I have no idea if I have created these textures correctly so good luck :)

The last few postcards I have saved then moved into the postcard folder in my Artlantis Directory have not worked.

It just moves the whole image across when I try to drag a material from the image. Is this something to do with the 'administrator' on the newest version of Windows? Or am I just being special?! The folder that Dolan attached with the shaders I placed in a new folder within the shaders directory and I can use them fine.

I am just struggling with 2 specific postcards and wondered what I was doing wrong as on Artlantis 2 I never had this problem when saving and applying them in the same manner.

Apologies if this is a very banal, stupid mistake on my behalf.
