I would like to be able to see through this lattice after importing to artlantis from sketchup but the alpha channel areas show as black and not transperant. Can I achieve this with Artlantis render 2 ? The shader is from sketchups fencing materials.
Thanks Paul

I opened your SKP file in ArtLantis 2 and got the relocate media dialog. This dialog opens if some of the used material/media in your file can't be located.
This happens with some SKP files. In some way, (please don't ask me why, because I don't know) ArtLantis doesn't recognise all media used in sketchup.
In this dialog you can choose one of the files that can't be found. In this case even the name was not recognised. Here you choose "replace with...". Then you can go to the location of the file you need to be recognised ----> the fencing.png and choose that one by first selecting it and click "open". Your file opens.
You are not ready yet....the object that has the fencing texture on it has the default shader/color on it. Go to the shaders catalog and drag the 'invisible' shader on the object. Then in the materiallist select the fencing texture and check "use Alpha Channel".
Now you have set up your scene how you want it and you have transparency enabled for your fencing material.

Thanks Sjaack,
With your help I got it to work. I use a mac pro and did not get the relocate media dialog, is that a PC thing? Any way after selecting the lattice material in the preview window with the shader inspector open, the material appears in the shader inspector.I then drag the invisible shader on to the lattice in the preview window and select the lattice a second time to make it appear in the shader inspector again. Now I check the use Alpha channel box to the right and presto you can see through the lattice.
Thanks again for your help and if you have the time could you offer any suggestions to my other post " scalling a background image " I think it`s on page 2 of forum general.
