I recently purchased the student version of ARTLANTIS R and I must say so far I am very disappointed at the limitations of the program. Evertime I import a 3ds file, ARTLANTIS treats the model as one whole model so whenever I add a material, it adds it to the whole model. What's the best way to subdivide the model into its individual components? Please respond, I need for you to restore my faith in your program.
From Max I export in 3ds. I read this file into Artlantis, a part of the geometry is missing or/and displaced. I reopen the 3ds file into Max the geometry is correct.
So we could say: This is Artlantis fault which do not read correctly the geometry?
To know the same 3ds file opened into C4D, Rhino, Amapi or SketchUp is not better red than into Artlantis.
Now if from Max I save as .obj file (Alias Wave Front) I read the .obj file into Rhino, C4D, Amapi the geometry is correct, I export to 3ds, then I open the 3ds file into Artlantis the geometry is correct too.
Conclusion: when you have 3ds files that do not open correctlty into Artlantis try to check with which software save this 3ds, if it's Max reopen the file into Max and export it in again in .obj.
In the future I make this wish that Artlantis import straight .obj file format.
