I am trying to open a 3d-model. I got it as a *.obj with a 2nd file *.mtl
I can open the obj, but I don't know how to open/import/relate the mtl file. I think the mtl is for the textures.
Thi is from the ATL-helpfile:
NB: Artlantis imports material names and textures*.
*You must also generate an MTL file when importing textures. The OBJ and MTL files must be side by side when importing.
Has anyone figured this out? I have about 50 .obj (and corresponding .mtl's)... Objects open but show missing JPG's which are presume are embedded into the .mtl files...

During the opening process, the mtl file works as a "control tower" and directs each texture to the right place. Do you have the additional textures as well?

The obj doesn't "compress" the texture files, I think this is also important. You will have the initial obj which is the geometry, than the texture jpgs or similar, and the "coordinator" mtl file.
