i know this is probably really basic stuff, but i am at a really basic level at the moment and was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to apply different textures to each side of an object for example, the interior and exterior finishes of a wall.
cheers

ive tried selecting the surfaces i want, using the different selection tools in the shader inspector, then i get a bit lost. the artlantisobjects.com tutorial was a bit confusing. not sure if it works the same on artlantis 3

This would take 2 seconds to show you but can't do it here.

This may seem convoluted, but just follow step by step and you should get there... Don't know if your on a mac or pc...

1. Click on surface of wall WHILE your in the MATERIAL tool (paint bucket)and with the materials palette open (window next to the tools window)

2. Click on the ADD A MATERIAL (paint bucket with the + sign)

3. Name your NEW MATERIAL and LEAVE IT SELECTED.

4. Click on the little square button above the list of materials. It will stay selectd and the TYPE button right next to it will be highlighted. This is allowing you to pick element (depending on what TYPE you have selected.. don't panic, I'll explain in a minute).

5. You will probably want to choose the PLANE type (you'll figure it out.... pull down the little arrow until you see an image of a plane (not the triangle, not the prism)...

6. Now click on the plane in your scene that you want to apply the new color to. It will turn WHITE to let you know it's selected.

7. Now notice that the little paint bucket with the down arrow next to it in the palette is ON... Click here and whatever material is selected in the list will be applied to that plane.

8. It will ask if you're sure and tell you it's not undoable.. Say ok.. Even if you get it wrong, you can always select it again and apply a different material...

Try it once or twice and you'll get the hang of it...
