I have been using Artlantis for years, always have the same problem.
I design exhibition stands, and when I create an object, lets say a graphic panel, and I add on a tga texture (usually exported from photoshop) onto it, it always maps onto the object really darkly. Then I have to lighten up the whole area, and my white laminates etc suffer burn out with the bright lights. I used to get around this on 4.5 by removing lets say the white pixels, leaving the background showing through. However, I cannot find this option in Studio. So, I am left with dull graphics, ruining the stand visuals, leaving me hours of photoshop joy. I am using Vectorworks 08, on Mac OS10.5 with Artlantis Studio!

Hi Tim
I think your problem is trying to adjust your materials to suite your lights. I suggest that you start by placing an image, then adjust your lights until the image looks correct. Then adjust your other materials to suit. Maybe if you put your file on the forum you will get some feedback.
You can still use image transparency in studio, I will often save out of photoshop the transparent image as a single layered .psd file and just dump it on to the material required. Once in Artlantis, add the psd file in the texture pallete, align it to where you want it & make sure the alpha chanel button is ticked (see image attached)
Hope this is some help.
Cheers
Dave

I get round this problem by adding small white (or grey) texture maps to the other surfaces - then I have more control over the colors: I can open all the texture maps together in Photoshop and adjust them to get the relative strengths correct.
But your question raises the philosophical point of what is white? I can't answer this, though I think I know what black is - zero emission. In practice I use a 10% grey texture map to be 'white' but I wish I had a more fundamental understanding of what white is! If white paper in Photoshop is R255 G255 B255 then what is a dazzling sun? Unfortunately that is also R255 G255 B255.
I reinstalled GTKRadiant 1.5 after many years, and I have the following problem. If I apply one of the sky textures to a brush, compile and run the map, the corresponding shader is not loaded, i.e. brush is still solid, the texture not moving etc...
I see in the console a line saying: unable to load scripts\skies.shader
Actually if I browse the pack0.pk3 I can find only scripts\sky.shader.
I tried to change the entry in GtkRadiant 1.5.0\q3.game\baseq3\default_shader.txt to "sky" instead of "skies", but this does not help.
