This shader belongs to an old version of Artlantis....
You may try to find some curtain objects that are even more realistic.

I got a pretty decent curtain effect by simply using the Basic shader and giving it a very slight bump effect using the "Add Texture..." then adjusting the transparency to about 50% (half way).

For interiors:
I guess Jeremy's option is the best option for now concerning daylight situations. You can als go for Szabo's option and use nighttime lighting, meaning light inside is stronger than light outside.

For exteriors and interior:
Try the Neon shader or in some cases the Neon glass shader. But you probably need to experiment a little with this one and you sometimes have to change material settings if you are using daylight/ nighttime settings in different views or panorama's and so one, when rendering.

I think this might have changed in ATL3 with its layer and other new options.
