Don't know if this is the right forum, but i have a question about applying materials and shaders to a model.
I'm using sketchup to build my models. To get the right materials on the different surfaces, i have to give them different colors in sketchup. All surfaces have a frontside and a backside. After exporting the model to Artlantis, all surfaces with the same colour get the same texture or shader. If a color is applied to the backside, Artlantis will not recognize it and use the "default front color" for it. Why?
If I want to be sure to get all the colors on the frontside, I have to turn all surfaces, so that the frontside will get the color. To be sure not to forget a surface, I'm always applying the colors on the backsides and the frontsides, but this is quite time-consuming!
Is there a better way to get the surfaces as wanted? Or is this only happening using sketchup?

Lars,
Yes wouldn`t it be great if artlantis recognised the back "blue" face in sketchup, until then did you get the left click face reverse script from smustard.com and do you use the monochrome face style selection in the tool pallete ? I`m sure you do but maybe someone else reading this may benefit from these time saving options.
Regards Paul

still hope to get some help from users who work with sketchup and artlantis - .... anyone???
what about users who work with other modelers? do you also have this "backside problem"? and if not: what do you think is the best modeler to use for artlantis?

I haven't run into this problem yet,
only because when i draw in sketchup i make sure everything has a thickness.
for example when i draw a wall, i make sure it's a 5" wall with all sides facing forward.

This is the same way I work, but sometimes I forget to turn one or more sides, and after hours working with artlantis I recognize it. After this, I have to restart my work, and that is quite unsatisfying!
How do you make sure that all sides are facing foreward?
