Hi,
I don't like the lawn shaders in artlantis and would rather use models of grass patches instead of textures, so that they might look realistic. But obviously this is impossible, as my computer is of average power. Anyway such grass patches don't work well with winding paths. I have tried high resolution photos of lawns with enlarged vertical size , so that when placed on a flat surface, they would imitate grass with the blades well distinguished, but once again I failed. What is the best method to achieve a decent grass/lawn effect? Help me please, anyone.
Agnieszka

... I understand .... but this is an insurmountable problem for the current Artlantis.
From what I understand .... you want a grass-dimensional .... very mangy thing to do ... why you should fill an entire lawn with some aof ... and the result from what I've seen around is also not satisfactory .... Besides the fact that you slow down the computer.
We look forward to a great leap in quality from our beloved rendering engine, namely the displacement ... and also add the hdri.
Regards .... Luciano. :-)

Maybe you are right. I am still new to postcards. The rar attachment contained 4 jpeg files of which there were 3 textures. I took one of them and put the result on the forum. What should I have done?

... The first thing to do is copy the folder you unzipped into the subfolder media -> Artlantis postcard to ... then you drag the piece of grass that you want from the thumbnail pictures on the surface that you want to change ... simple. In so doing, he takes you behind even the textures used to give the effect you see in the preview.

.... good luck, but you'll notice immediately how much efforts put clumps of grass aof to cover a large area of lawn ...
.... however still it does not work the postcard or did not understand yet how to use it .... or the defect was caused by a different scale representation of your file Artlantis ... the postcard was made by me on a basic model built in ArchiCAD ... then 1 unit = 1 m

I find the best way to get a decent grass is to use the one of the grass postcards included with Artlantis, then use the "Add Texture..." and map another grass texture on top of that. Make the texture repeat X & Y and adjust the size, make the texture partly transparent and increase bump effect slightly. The important part is to adjust the rotation of the base shader, set it to something that's not common, 28 degrees or something random like that. For the top texture give it a rotation that will produce a random repetition of the grass shader and textures. This way it will look much more natural.
Play with the bumps of the shader and the texture and find something that works well. Also adjust the mix colors of the texture and the base shader to get the right color that you want. I have managed to get some very decent looking grasses by doing this. I think the most important part is having more than 1 grass mixing together and the rotations of those grasses. It will work well once you get the settings right!

These are the kind of plants i'm looking for, especially the second one with red flowers. These are a kind of tropical little bushes that looks very nice in front of the house.
Thank you for any help!
Roberto
