I like the design of them. The first one seems a bit too dark to me. Maybe add some normal maps to the shaders if you haven't already to make the roofing and siding "pop" more. Also I think you need railings on the decks and some stairs. I don't think it would fly without them in the States.

Hi Ryan
Maybe work on your viewpoint, try and keep your eye level horizontal. I usually render a square, and then crop after.
Also adding cars, people, outdoor furniture etc. will give some scale. Try moving the sun so that shadows add depth to your design, having part of your building in full shade can be interesting.

thanks guys for taking the time to look at my work. We have only just started producing renders for clients, we are mainly a contract (working) drawings office. Jeremy - will look at normal maps, still making my own shaders and will look at crazybump or similar, also we can go to 1m off the ground without a handrail in New Zealand, maybe the ground is softer here? Mike - Will work on the views, had cars etc on the first lot of renders but the client was more interested in looking at the house, I know which ones I preferred. Sjaak - We have had Artlantis in the office for a while but no one used it, will update to V3 once things pick up.
