I'm having difficulty transitioning the camera target from On Path to On Fixed Vertex. When Artlantis computes the target path at the transition, it swings the target through 360 degrees before "finding" the On Fixed Vertex target.

Here is a short video of the problem.

Robert.

I do not see your camera target changing at the keyframe you switch from 'fixed vertex' to 'on path'. The camera target changes just a second later. If you do not change the camera target in the same keyframe your new camera target will be at the position of the camera at the moment of the keyframe by default. This explains the sudden turn of your camera. Move the keyframe where you change camera target towards the keyframe where you changed from 'fixed vertex' to 'on path'. Or remove the change camera keyframe from your timelin and make a new one where you change the path behaviour of your camera. I guess your problem will be solved then.

I hope I made myself clear enough.

Well, no, I don't really understand.

Sorry English is not my native language. I can make myself clear most of the times but this is harder.

Short.
If you change the camera behavior you have to change the camera target at the same keyframe. You didn't do that.

Just when I think I've got it figured out, something else happens to prove me wrong. I've animated in Vue, Viz and Bryce; but I cannot seem to get my head wrapped around how Artlantis behaves.

Let me try to explain again.

If you choose camerabehaviour 'On path' there is no cameratarget. The cameratarget is fixed in this camerabehaviour.
If you change to 'On fixed vertex' you need a camera target. By default ArtLantis will choose the cameraviewpoint at the location of the keyframe as the new cameratarget. If you do not set another cameratarget at that keyframe the camera will automatically turn around because it follows a path. As the camera is following its path this will result in a cameratarget located behind the camera. It is what you show in your AVI

Obviously I'm confused. The camera will always follow the path, correct? 'On Path' is a behavior that controls the camera target (relative to the path), not the camera path. So when I create an 'On Fixed Vertex' keyframe downstream from a 'On Path' keyframe, I would expect Artlantis to be able to correctly interpolate the target path transition.

Anyway, I've found that if I select the keyframe that is giving me problems, hit the record button, and deselect/select the 'On Path' and 'On Fixed Vertex' radio buttons, the transition cleans itself up. It's not very elegant, but at least it will get me by until I can figure out your solution.
