If you look through the threads by search function you will find some longer explanation how to make and use them.
In the middle of this thread: http://www.artlantis.com/index.php?page=support/forum/read&mes=16418&fid=atl_wip
I wrote some longer explanation on using BBbuilder and how to create billboards with this program.
One important advice: don't use jpg. Those pictures will never be clear and clean. Use bmp, tiff or tga files to be used in BBB.
Greetings
Patrick

Hi Metos,
billboards are more or less 2-dimensional objects mapped with the (realistic) picture (Alphamap) of a human, animal plant or something else.
Compared to a 3d-object there are only few polygons and renderspeed increases.
These billboards could be made always facing the camera that you can rarely see that it is not a real 3d-model.
Problem at the moment is that billboards are generating but not receiving shadows.
You can use them like any other object in ATL just by drag and drop.
Cheers
Patrick
