Can someone explain attenuation of light in artlantis 2 for me pleas? I made a model but light seems to shine infinite far without weakening so i thought to set attenuation but when i set 20metres for exemple my model loses all lights when i watch it from a distance.

What I've found is that attenuation controls the intensity of the hotspot the light casts on geometry immediately surrounding it. It is best to open the 2d view and there you can see the attenuation arc/circle around the light source and you can drag it to make adjustments there.
The bigger the attenuation, the softer the hotspot. The smaller, the brighter.

Are you sure that all lights have shadow casting ON? To double check it select them all and first switch it OFF and switch id ON after. If the problem persist - I would delete all the light and start from the beginning - only one light. I know that it can be painfull, but it will give you an idea what is the problem. Just work on file copy (just in case you figute it out it would be easy to fix it). Regards

Update. I think I know what you mean (I was wrong with my previous post, sorry). In A1 we were able to define where light beam stops (with 'attenuation' command) but in A2 attenuation only defines from what distance light starts darkening (but it is still infinite). I think. I use A2 – so I’m curious about the solution (hopefully not ‘move on to A3’ ;) )

I use A2 but changing attenuation doesnt help much. when i set it low it still fails to remove the dots of light, when i set it for exemple 2000 cm my model goes totally dark. But ty for ur help and ur compliment :d

With the attenuation you can take off the picks, I don't think that it can help you.
In the attached image the first rendering was done with 0 attenuation, the next has a 0.5 and the third 1.0 value. Increasing the value, the book is less burned out, while the general light emitted of the lamp stays the same.
This is my final result after lil photoshop.
But i can't manage to get rid of the pixelated effect of the dark areas in my render, but after all im happy with the result of my first night renders ever :)

Hi, I think it has something to do with the size of your model.....
maybe the conversion from centimeters to meters or something
If you scale it down(like 10 or a 100 times), it might be without the sparks and spots....
but maybe you have to reset the camera's and stuff to, i don't know.
I can remember i used to have it once and there has been a topic in the forums about i think....maybe a year ago....but that's the only solution i can think of.
