I am new in the forum and this is my first post so I hope it works.
I am an architecture student and I want to buy a new laptop.
My choise is the sony Vaio VGN-Fw 32j.
I would like to have your advice about the configuration of the laptop general and especially about the grafik card - the ATI Mobility™ Radeon® HD 3650 with 256 MG Gddr3 video memory.
I use ArchiCad, Artlantis, the whole Adobe pack and cinema 4d and I´m not sure, if the grafik card isn´t too slow for such a things.
I will be thankful for every advice.
Here is the laptop configuration:
Core 2 Duo P8600 with 2x 2,4gh
4gb ddr2 ram
ATI Mobility™ Radeon® HD 3650 grafik card
400gb Hdd
Sony Vaio 16,4 inch display with 1600x900pixel (I like teh display)

Abvent doesn't have special recommendation for graphic cards, it only says that integrated graphic chip-sets are not supported. The one you mention looks good.

hello,
can u tell me why they not recommend graphic cards?
i'm looking to buy a new pc, to work with archicad and artlantis, and the Recommended System Requirements aren´t enought.
today i tried to make a render in Artlantis 3, in a quad core with 6Gb Ram and Nvidia 9800GT, in 1024*768 PC, low anti-anliasing, and normal accuracy and it takes more than 2 hours.
i need to speed up the render time.

Artlantis doesn't use the graphics card when producing the renderings. Graphics cards will help with the 3d preview window but not the renders.
The main concern you have with the renderings is the speed of the CPU, and specifically how many cores it has (if you can manage 8 cores then go for it!). The amount of RAM is also important. Get the fastest CPU with the most cores you can, and slap as much RAM as you can afford into that sucker.

I have that problem too. very very slow. What do you recommend, Intel i7 975 xtreme or Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5300/5400 (possibility to integrating Dual CPU, later)
