And here is a picture of a development I'm working on.
It's a house with four apartments (divided into two sections, connected with the stairways).
C&C are welcome.

Hi Patrick
Very nice work, the only thing I would do is render as photoshop then replace the sky with something more interesting.

90% of the plants and all of the human are billboards placed in ATL. 10% of the plants are placed in postwork.
The billboards I made by myself in BBBuilder. The cutouts I used were collected all over the net. Some were bought, some were free.
Most of them are bought at www.arcitool.de ore downloaded at vonyyx: http://vyonyx.com/category/down/cutout-trees/

But most of the cutouts I gave some postwork before making billboards out of them.

Hi Aluki,
thanks for the compliments.
I fore myself use some middle class CAD called CasCADos from First Invision. That's nothing special but it's made specially for smaller office like mine :-)
Problem is that it is only available in German language.
As far as I can see you have to look for something in english. A colleague of mine is working with archicad and he seems to be pretty satisfied with this. But it's more expensive.
My experience with other CAD is a to long time ago.

Beside my CAD I only use the freeware of sketchup for smaller models and self made furniture.
- Accutrans for converting files from one format into another.
- 3d Photobrowser with Polygoncruncher for reducing polygons (This could also convert file formats).
- ATL 3 for the renders and Corel X3 for postproduction.

Instead of Corel or Photoshop you maybe give the software "gimp" a try. It's opensource freeware and powerful.

Your work already looks good but you have to work on details of the building and especially for the stuff around the house.
There are a lot of free objects in the net. Especially better cars and other equipment to increase realism. Also look for better textures. You will find a lot of links in the shaders and textures section. Maybe you will visit www.openfootage.net or cgtextures.com.
Cheers

Hi Mouton,
I already wrote above were I found most of the cutouts I used for making my billboards.

"The billboards I made by myself in BBBuilder. The cutouts I used were collected all over the net. Some were bought, some were free.
Most of them are bought at www.arcitool.de ore downloaded at vonyyx: http://vyonyx.com/category/down/cutout-trees/ "

But most of the cutouts I gave some postwork before making billboards out of them."
If you use search function You will find some other thread where I explained how to create these billboards with BBBuilder.

Hi there
I don't often post here... I think the lights in this model are good, but what I don't like is the dimensions of the people : too tall in my opinion.

Hi Roland,
thanks for your opinion. The original scene (the house and the grund) do have correct measurements and the billboards, too.
Maybe it's the point of view.

Hi Ronald,
and here is the original render I made in ATL.
The original size was 7000x5250 px and all settings high.
Most of the post work was necessary because I didn't model the ground detailed enough.

AMazing image Patrick! What kind of postprocessed effects make the image more real inside photoshop?! would you like to give us some tips? I can see that u make the billboards part of the image with a kind of softness! how do u achieve that?

Good job! Tnx for the reply,

Ronald

Hi Ronald,
as you can see I changed the sky and added some more plants (with shadows) and a new road in post work.

After this I used two simple filters in PS. Tonal Contrast and Glamour Glow. These are part of a filter packet.

Cheers
