I have been wanting to put together a DVD collection of different projects that I have done animations for. Most of these animations have been rendered with the H-264 compression. Will that effect the quality of the DVD in anyway? If so is it best to render them without any compression? Any additional info for DVD renderings, or using iDVD would be great.

I've just finished a movie in iDVD. I did all the piecing together in imovie first then used the share option to take it to iDVD. The quality was great, imovie is more flexible, it allows you to save your creation in most file types. It seems to me that by compressing your movie with the 'best' quality option it plays more smoothly.

Nice renderings! But when you rendered through artlatis did you give them a compression codec? I have not been able to get iMovie to produce any quality videos yet.

Since I've been doing large animations generally 1280 x 720 the best method is to render as tga files then open the files from quicktime pro using the 'open image sequence' from the file menu. This has several advantages, you can set the frames per second then you can 'export' your movie using any of the compressors and still retain a master copy of your movie. Also Artlantis generally crashes on about 50% of my movies so I can start the frame number were it stopped. Try using the 'share' method and 'expert' in imovie and always use the best quality compression. You need quicktime pro for this.

I've been doing the Targa - Quicktime- open as image sequence thing which does produce the best quality movies but often come out jumpy for no reason I can figure. Is there a way to render good quality movies without the jumpy problem you get doing it the Targa route or is there a way to stop the Targa route being jumpy?
Thanks and Happy New Year!

So Targa-Quciktime-stick-together then export from Quicktime as H.246? Or export as QuickTime movie with H.264?
I'm sure I tried that codec direct from Artlantis but abandoned Exporting as Quicktime from Artlantis altogether after a number of trys with diffrent settings and codecs as the results were so blocky and poor.
