Howdy Howdy!!!

We've recently converted over to using AutoCAD Lt as our main layout utility.

We'll be using Artlantis to Render our projects, as it is FAR superior to anything we've been able to create using the rendering abilities if the full version of CAD.

Here's the dilemma we're facing.

3D figures for our products etc are not a problem, as they're all created in 3DS Max and then a 3D CAD Block is created which will then be used for layout configuration in CAD LT.

The problem is, we often use 2D Solids and 2D Faces to create sidewalks or other areas around the product to recreate ground and ground cover etc. Such as mulch and sand etc.

However we're finding that Artlantis completely ignores any/all 2D Solids that we import along with our CAD projects.

Is there any way to get Artlantis to see these objects? We only need to be able to attach a material to them for rendering.

Any other tools we could use in CAD LT that artlantis will see that could be used for this purpose?

ok.... ignore me.....

I seem to always do this.... ask a question....

Then while I wait I keep working and figure it out....

Seems.... I failed to notice previously that little check box near the bottom when importing a CAD file that says..... import closed edges..... works like a charm!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Artlantis, You ROCK!

Artlantis doesn't ignore 2D face. To spare you from lotsa problem, I recommend you to junk the AutoCad and get the Google SketchUp.

That's our next goal!

Currently we're simply implementin a short term solution in CAD 2009. But we're going to be taking a long hard look at Google Sketch-Up in the future.

Lots of digging and research will have to be done before we can head in that route!
